History tid bit of the week: The Door Knocker

A little tid bit on the History of The Door Knocker:

Door-knockers date back to ancient Greece where their purpose, I discovered, was not an ornate one.   Apparently, slaves where chained to the metal rings on the door when they greeted visitors and the design of the metal ring developed on into the Roman Empire and other civilizations.
